When we say the Scone literary festival is for all ages…. We’re not exaggerating! Emily Granger, just fresh out of primary school is a bright addition to our festival program!
A lover and writer of Australiana bush poetry, Emily Granger was awarded Young Citizen of the Year in 2022, while in year six!
This impressive youth has successfully competed in interschool speaking competitions, Kia Ora Music Camp, Scone Horse Festival Yarns night and poetry at King of the Range. We can’t wait to hear Emily present The One Eyed Steer, and Murray Hartin’s Turbulence at the Bush Poets’ Breakfast.
Recently awarded Young Citizen of the Year, 2022, Scone District by the UHSC, Emily completed year six last year (2021) at Ellerston Public School. Despite having no internet access nor mobile phone coverage she has overcome these obstacles to excel academically and contribute to the community. Throughout primary school, she has successfully competed in interschool speaking competitions, Kia Ora Music Camp, Scone Horse Festival Yarns night and poetry at King of the Range. She writes her own poems and will be presenting The One Eyed Steer, and Murray Hartin’s Turbulence at the Bush Poets’ Breakfast on Sunday March 12, as part of the Scone Literary Festival 2023.
