Toby Roberts

Writer

Toby’s memoir ‘Two Mums and a Dad’ covers his teenage years, growing up with a lesbian

mum in the northern suburbs of Sydney in the 1980s. He and his siblings were encouraged

to lead creative lives, but Toby disappointed everyone by becoming a lawyer.

After working for several years in Asia and London, Toby returned to Sydney, where he

currently lives with his wife and two children.

Toby has written a number of short stories which have been converted into podcasts and

broadcast on Radio National, but ‘Two Mums and a Dad’ is his first book. The book was

published by Bad Apple Press in 2021 and it received media coverage in the Sydney

Morning Herald, ABC 702 Radio, and Channel 10 TV.
