'Return To The Hunter', Scott's latest book has him paddling through the Upper Hunter and thinking about those who live and work here, about the area's rich history, and it has him ruminating about the region's future after heading home from overseas.
Newcastle-born writer and journalist Scott Bevan paddled the Hunter River in 2011 to reconnect with who he was and where he was from. That journey in a kayak led to the acclaimed book, 'The Hunter'. A decade on, Scott returned to the river to paddle it again. The account of that journey, contained in Scott’s new book, 'Return To The Hunter', reflects on changes in the lives of those Scott met 10 years earlier. In the life of the river and the region, and in the author’s own life. Above all, this journey is a celebration of life while taking the reader on a new adventure. 'Return To The Hunter' sees the original story of 'The Hunter' back in print. In effect, 'Return To The Hunter' is two stories, two journeys, in one book. And it is all bound by one river, the river that unites a region: the Hunter.
