Debra Oswald is a two-time winner of the NSW Premier’s Literary Award and creator/head writer of the TV series Offspring.

She has written three adult novels - UsefulThe Whole Bright YearThe Family Doctor (2021) – as well as three Aussie Bite books for kids and six children's novels.

Debra’s stage plays have been performed around the world, including Gary’s House and Mr Bailey’s Minder. Debra has also written four plays for young audiences – DagsSkateStories in the Dark and House on Fire.

Her television credits include award-winning episodes of Police Rescue, Sweet and Sour and Bananas in Pyjamas.

Debra’s one-woman show, Is There Something Wrong With That Lady? premiered at the Griffin Theatre in 2021, with a return season at the Ensemble in 2023, following a revival production of her play Mr Bailey’s Minder, starring John Gaden.
