Rob is based in Tamworth but travels constantly for work and pleasure, between teaching and adjudication work. She is a great advocate for our home-grown Bush Poetry both at home in Australia and internationally.
In 2014 & 2015, Rob was awarded the title of National Champion reciter of Banjo Patterson’s famous “The Man from Snowy River ” in Corryong, in the beautiful Victorian Snowy Mountains. Rob is the only woman to have won this award twice and only the second woman to have won it at all. After many requests, Rob has made a recording of poetry by Banjo and other traditional and modern bush poets for a CD called Mirth, Myth and Memories. Ted Egan generously wrote that “Rob’s collection shows who we are as Australians”.
Rob is our Regional Representative for Trinity College London, the international examinations board, and a member of both the NSW (as Immediate Past President) and QLD Speech and Drama Teachers’ Associations. She was also the NSW representative for the Australian Bush Poetry Association (ABPA) and Vice President of the Rural Education Forum of Australia.
See Robbie deliver a rousing rendition of some of her favourite poems at the Bush Poets’ Breakfast as part of the Scone Literary Festival’s 2023 lineup.
